darling its cold outside, lets step out of the rain
black clouds still circle the sky, the gods have felt our pain
ash entered the lungs of those who chose to live no more
why she never spoke a word i will never know, she put flowers by her front door
the blackest eyes ive seen in shadows
eyes that have seen the worse to come
a world with no beauty and no love to share
she knew the storms were coming all along
but still stood in the open waiting to be washed away
she dreamed of being drowned in the river by the mills
the broken red bricks turned to blood in her eyes
running down the walls spelling out the names
of each burning body in the streets below
she breathed this air for too many years, turning her blood black
she watched her loved ones burn into flames and wished she could join them to
fading away with the scarlet skyline, she prays for the sun to set earlier every day
rotting away with the familiar price of love we all pay
dying inside for far too long she slowly past away
i picked the last red rose and placed it on her grave
